"Beneath your feet you can see sharks circling. These are your colleagues, your friends." (From the film)
An A&R man of a top-notch UK record company sets out to find the next pop hit of Britain, popping out a lot of other 'things' on the way...
Fancy a visit to a UK record company in the late 90s when the British music industry was on a collective roll of spending extreme amounts of money to find new talent? Our host Steven Stelfox played by the young British actor Nicholas Hoult (Mad Max: Fury Road) is an ambitious A&R man in search of the next big hit. However, Stelfox is more interested in bribery, conspiracy and spontaneous murder plots than good music. Perhaps because he is a real 'talent hunter' his main targets are his colleagues, and his "friends" who seemingly share the same purpose. This black comedy, adapted to the screen by John Niven from the novel of the same title, does justice to the genre by enabling the audience to burst into laughter whilst making them feel ashamed of doing so.
