"What father in the world wouldn't be pleased to be imitated?" (From the film)
A touching buddy film full of blood and thunder.
After the closing of Studio Ghibli last year, our broken hearts are brightened with the action-packed but touching master-pupil anime by the successful director Mamoru Hosada. Ren is a 9-year old boy struggling with the absence of his parents. Taken over by anger and desperation, he runs through the streets of Tokyo and suddenly stumbles into a parallel world, inhabited by beasts. A very mean, insensitive and selfish beast, called Kumametsu, takes him on as an apprentice. Despite the long years spent with tough education and plenty of quarrelling, Ren can't get the world he left behind out of his mind. Will he go back and resume his old life, or will he stay and excel as a warrior? Blending mythical and supernatural elements with spectacular combat scenes, The Boy and the Beast is a heartwarming story of soul-searching.
