"- Harry, come on, that's a grave. - Well, Europe's a grave." (From the Film)

SUMMARY

Luca Guadagnino`s sly, funny follow-up to I Am Love suddenly feels like the greatest party you have ever been invited to.(The Times)

Taking its inspiration from La Piscine (1969) by Jacques Deray, A Bigger Splash is the latest film by I Am Love director Luca Guadagnino. Continuing his collaboration with Tilda Swinton, Guadagnino transforms the infamous pool in the French film into a subversively funny narrative around the cool couple Marianne and Paul (Tilda Swinton and Matthias Shoenaerts) and their visitors Harry and his daughter Penelope (Ralph Fiennes and Dakota Johnson). We first meet Marianne and Paul, a famous rock star and a documentary filmmaker who are on vacation on the idyllic sun-drenched and remote Italian island of Pantelleria. Their almost peaceful existence and decadent lifestyle is disrupted by the unexpected visit of old friend Harry and his daughter Penelope. Orchestrating flirtations, comedy of errors and double crossings, Guadagnino throws us into a storm of food, music, talk and sexual tension.
